Bibles 4 Change works directly with county jail and state prison Chaplains all across the Country to help them promote in-depth Bible study. We do so by supplying them with very high-quality study Bibles to use at their discretion for people that show a serious interest in more comprehensive Bible study. Typically they are used as reward Bibles for passing certain milestones in their studies, usually in conjunction with a formal Bible study program. We not only allow our Chaplains to stipulate which of our Bibles they want, but also in what version they prefer. We want to be sure that what we send them is in step with the Bible version they teach in their own ministries, every day.
There are already several great ministries that supply Chaplains with everyday Bibles, such as the Gideons. We found that there has been a specific gap in the supply of high-quality Bibles to Chaplains, usually predicated on their cost. This is where we fit in - this is our niche. Reception of our program has been remarkably high among the Chaplains with whom we work. We can tell by the way they order them, small numbers at a time, that they are conscious of the need for distributing these Bibles very discriminately and only to those who demonstrate a sincere desire to learn more about God's Word. This discretion is necessary because of the cost of these Bibles.
The Lord instructed us a long time ago - "You go after the Chaplaincy contacts and structure the organization and I will take care of the money required to make it work" and true to His word, He's never let us down! We've done it with donations from churches and everyday people. Every time there has been a high demand for Bibles, the money has been there to purchase them. We buy our Bibles in bulk, from the publishers so we're confident that make our best deal every time. We've also established drop-shipping with them so we don't have to handle them twice.
Good stewardship of God's money is very important to us. None of us in the organization take pay for what we do in this ministry. In fact, everything we buy to administer this program is weighed against how many Bibles it costs us to make the purchase. We've found it to be a very effective way to manage our expenses.
